We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Haywood Regional Medical Center. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our respiratory care team.
Key Responsibilities- Measure and analyze lung capacity and blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
- Deliver and assess response to ordered therapy per plan of care.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Evaluate respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
- Respond to codes and calls for emergent assistance, assessing patient condition and delivering appropriate treatment.
- Educate patients and families about their illness and provide information about community support groups and other resources.
- Monitor, receive, stock, and distribute respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.
- Maintain storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
- Disassemble, clean, and sterilize equipment, and perform preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.
- Graduate of a school of Respiratory Therapy.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire.
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of employment.
- AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of employment.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required.
- Credentialed with the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
