Job Overview

Position Title: Clinical Psychiatrist at DAK Resources


Summary:
As a key member of our Whole Health System, you will engage in a model focused on developing tailored health strategies for each Veteran. This approach emphasizes nurturing relationships and fostering healing environments, while also reconnecting Veterans with their communities. Your role aligns with the mission of the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) to provide outstanding healthcare that enhances the health and well-being of our Veterans.


Key Responsibilities:
Your primary duties will include participating in the after-hours call rotation during weekdays, with potential weekend on-call duties and remote consultations. This position is not full-time. You will be responsible for delivering comprehensive psychiatric care to Veterans seeking mental health services. Your focus will be on diagnosing and treating mental health disorders that require intervention, primarily within a multidisciplinary framework.


Essential Duties:

  • Conduct independent initial evaluations, diagnosing and managing mental health conditions in Veterans who self-refer or are referred by other services.
  • Order necessary investigations and make appropriate referrals.
  • Administer pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments, including evidence-based psychotherapies.
  • Supervise residents to maintain accreditation and fulfill training program requirements.
  • Participate in the call system for emergency room coverage, consultation liaison, and mental health acute unit support.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM


Compensation: $200K - $300K annually, based on credentials and experience.


Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited.
  • All applicants selected for VA employment in designated testing positions must undergo urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
  • Selective Service Registration is mandatory for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Probationary period may be necessary.
  • Background/security investigation is required.
  • Completion of an online onboarding process is mandatory.
  • Pre-employment physical examination must be passed.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required for all healthcare personnel.
  • Participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program is required for all healthcare personnel.

Qualifications:
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional criteria specified in the job announcement. Those pending completion of training or licensing may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled. Current VA physicians who met previous qualification standards at the time of their initial appointment are considered to have met the basic requirements.


Basic Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Current, unrestricted medical license in a U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Board Certification in Psychiatry is highly desirable.


Physical Requirements: The role involves walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods, and may require bending, lifting, and turning.


Education:
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an accredited institution. Verification of credentials for foreign medical graduates is required.
