Department: PSU Student Financial Services
Summary of Role:
This role is integral to the administration of the financial aid program. The Financial Aid Award Officer will work under the supervision of the Associate Director of Financial Aid, engaging in the evaluation of financial aid applications, conducting need assessments, determining eligibility, and allocating financial aid resources in compliance with Federal and USNH regulations.
Minimum Education Requirements:
Associate's Degree
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years in a related field
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with one year of relevant experience in financial aid administration, or an Associate's Degree coupled with three years of experience.
- Knowledge of U.S. Department of Education policies and procedures governing federal aid programs and need analysis.
- Ability to perform under pressure and manage time effectively.
- Familiarity with computerized financial aid record systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial aid packages. Attention to detail is crucial.

Job Responsibilities:
- Application Review and Financial Aid Offer Development:
Evaluate financial aid applications for accuracy and make necessary corrections. Confirm eligibility and develop comprehensive financial aid offers, including federal, state, and institutional aid, utilizing professional judgment and adherence to regulations. - Reporting and Compliance:
Reconcile federal loan accounts monthly and assist in the annual audit of awards. Maintain accurate records of scholarships and financial aid disbursements in accordance with federal and state policies. - Financial Aid Counseling:
Provide guidance to students and families regarding the financial aid process, eligibility criteria, and regulatory compliance through various communication channels. - Additional Duties:
Engage in campus events such as Open Houses and New Student Orientation, and perform other related responsibilities as assigned.
