POSITION TITLE: Machinist Level II

DEPARTMENT: Machine Shop

REPORTS TO: Machining Lead



SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The individual in this role will collaborate effectively with colleagues to meet the goal of producing high-quality components in a safe manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up, modify, and operate various CNC vertical machining centers and lathes to perform turning, boring, facing, grooving, milling, and drilling tasks, ensuring adherence to specified dimensions.
  • Ensure precision by measuring parts, verifying tolerances, and documenting results accurately.
  • Interpret routings, process sheets, and technical drawings. Select appropriate speeds, feeds, tooling, and operational sequences, while refining CNC programs as necessary.
  • Accurately position, align, and secure workpieces, potentially utilizing locating fixtures. Prepare and select tools based on varying conditions and materials.
  • Engage actively in team efforts and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Familiarity with CNC controls, preferably Fanuc.
  • Strong skills in shop mathematics and blueprint interpretation.
  • Experience in operating hoists and cranes.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • A genuine interest in learning and development.
  • A positive attitude and adaptability are essential.

SCOPE:

This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.
