Key Requirements:
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 6-8 years of experience or a Master's in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years in machine design, preferably in semiconductor or special purpose machine design.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Unigraphics NX and Teamcenter Engineering.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes including welding, machining, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Familiarity with materials such as aluminum, stainless steel grades, and suitable plastics.
- Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) applied to complex engineering drawings.
- Ability to generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Capable of creating manufacturing drawings independently and conducting reviews.
- Strong skills in GD&T, stack-up analysis, and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and collaboration with FEA analysts to review results and suggest improvements.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for explaining design concepts.
- Able to collaborate effectively with engineers from various departments and disciplines.
- Self-motivated and capable of prioritizing tasks with minimal supervision.
Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency with the tools, procedures, and programming languages necessary for the role.
- Master's degree or a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
- Experience in leading the development of tools for semiconductor manufacturing.
- Experience in managing the development of tools for servicing large capital equipment.
- Experience in guiding multiple projects through the complete product development lifecycle.
- Application and review of FEA within the design cycle.
- Conducting tolerance studies and training other engineers in these practices.
- Hands-on experience in fabricating components and familiarity with manufacturing best practices.
- Experience in building complex assemblies.
- Proficient in writing system-level requirements and performing traceability analysis through documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Assume engineering responsibility for factory layouts, from concept through manufacturing.
- Ensure adherence to internal development processes throughout all design stages.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, integration, and facilities teams to ensure designs are realized efficiently and on schedule.
- Understand clean product design methods suitable for cleanroom environments.
- Perform analysis for manufacturability in low-volume products and tools, and design for configuration management.
- Generate module or system concepts that meet product specifications.
- Qualify designs using production modules and facilities.
- Manage project plans, including key deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
- Drive comprehensive documentation of designs, including BOMs, drawings, and procedures.
- Develop and execute verification and qualification test plans.
- Support development activities using the Product Development Process, including concept reviews, design reviews, prototype builds, and verification testing.
- Coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning, and engineering departments to acquire inventory efficiently.
- Work collaboratively with internal engineers to enhance team performance.
- Engage with cross-functional staff, including engineers, scientists, and quality assurance, to resolve quality issues.
