Position Summary: Under the guidance of the P.E./Sports and Aquatics Director, the gym monitor plays a crucial role in overseeing activities and ensuring the smooth operation of the RTH Community Center. Responsibilities include supervising athletic facilities, managing participants and equipment, and supporting various programs. The focus of RTH athletic initiatives is on participation, inclusion, enjoyment, and fair play. Gym monitors are expected to maintain a positive demeanor, encourage health and fitness, and uphold values that foster a rewarding sports experience. They are responsible for ensuring the gymnasium remains safe and clean during operational hours. Building relationships with members is essential to guarantee equitable access to gym facilities for all. The role requires acting in the best interest of the RTH organization, embodying values of teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Duties:
- Ensure all programs and activities are conducted safely and are well-equipped.
- Maintain compliance with RTH program standards and safety protocols.
- Adhere to risk management policies for all programs and activities.
- Exhibit high customer service standards and serve as a role model for residents and participants.
- Contribute to a positive and secure work environment.
- Participate in staff meetings as required.
- Respond promptly to ensure participant safety in emergencies.
- Familiarize with and follow Emergency Action Plans, participating in practice drills.
- Review and enforce gymnasium policies.
- Maintain accurate records, organize files, and respond to communications within 24-48 business hours.
- Submit reports, skill sheets, and attendance records punctually.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Program Responsibilities:
- Assist in coaching and instructing P.E. sports classes and programs, implementing best practices and innovative models.
- Facilitate age-appropriate programs and activities related to P.E./Sports.
- Enforce the rules of the sports being played.
- Manage timekeeping and announce breaks during activities.
- Monitor player behavior to ensure adherence to conduct rules.
- Inspect sports equipment to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Provide equal attention to each athlete's development in their respective sports.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain a professional appearance.
- Ensure the facility is clean and perform routine maintenance.
- Start and conclude each session on time, remaining available for participant inquiries and cleanup.
- Teach sport-specific classes and monitor gym activities as necessary.
- Assist in fostering resident involvement through community outreach and marketing efforts.
- Ensure gym facilities and equipment are well-maintained to support program participation.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands outlined here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
- Ability to interact with residents and program participants both physically and verbally.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to perform physical activities such as standing, sitting, walking, climbing, balancing, and bending.
- Familiarity with RTH policies and facility regulations.
- Ability to observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations, and apply management techniques as needed.
