We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dental Hygienist to join our team at American Dental Companies.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, conducting comprehensive oral health assessments, and delivering high-quality dental cleanings and periodontal therapy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough patient assessments, including examining teeth, gums, and soft tissues, and evaluating oral hygiene practices and risk factors for dental diseases.
  • Conduct professional dental cleanings (prophylaxis) to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth, using specialized instruments and techniques to clean above and below the gumline and polish teeth for a smooth finish.
  • Provide non-surgical periodontal therapy, including scaling and root planing, to treat gum disease and promote periodontal health, monitoring and documenting periodontal measurements to track treatment progress.
  • Take dental radiographs (X-rays) as part of the diagnostic process, following established protocols and safety guidelines, and interpret radiographic images to identify dental caries, periodontal disease, and other oral conditions.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and interdental cleaning techniques, and provide personalized recommendations for oral care products and preventive measures to maintain optimal oral health.
  • Offer guidance on the relationship between diet and oral health, including the effects of nutrition on dental caries, periodontal disease, and overall well-being, and encourage healthy eating habits that support oral health.
  • Assist patients in quitting tobacco use by providing information, resources, and support for smoking cessation, educating patients about the harmful effects of tobacco on oral health and overall health.
  • Conduct oral cancer screenings during routine dental examinations to detect signs of oral cancer or precancerous lesions, referring patients for further evaluation and treatment if abnormalities are identified.
  • Apply dental sealants to the occlusal surfaces of permanent molars to prevent dental caries, evaluating the need for sealants based on individual risk factors and providing appropriate recommendations.
  • Administer fluoride treatments to strengthen tooth enamel and prevent tooth decay, offering fluoride varnish applications or other fluoride products based on patients' age, risk factors, and treatment needs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including clinical notes, treatment plans, and radiographic findings, documenting assessments, interventions, and patient education efforts in accordance with legal and professional standards.
  • Collaborate with dentists and other members of the dental team to develop comprehensive treatment plans and coordinate care for patients, communicating findings, recommendations, and referrals effectively to ensure continuity of care.
