Medical Records Director

Yoakum Community Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Director of Health Information Management/HIPAA Privacy Officer. This key leadership role requires a strong understanding of health information management principles, HIPAA regulations, and electronic health record systems.
Key Responsibilities- Health Information Management: Oversee the Health Information Management department, ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of patient information, and implementing and maintaining policies and procedures related to health information management and privacy.
- HIPAA Compliance: Provide guidance and education to staff regarding HIPAA regulations and privacy practices, conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify and address any potential privacy breaches, and develop and implement corrective action plans as needed.
- Coding and Auditing: Direct responsibility for ICD-10/CPT coding, accuracy and processing edits, as needed, and maintaining 95% coding accuracy.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field; Master's degree preferred. Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in Health Information Management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Skills and Qualifications: In-depth knowledge of HIPAA regulations and privacy practices. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in electronic health record systems and information technology in healthcare settings.
