Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department Clinical Evaluation Unit (CEU) team at Duke University Hospital. As a Registered Nurse with Duke Health, you will provide and supervise direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities, utilizing the nursing process to achieve care goals and health outcomes for patients and care teams.
Responsibilities- Provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients in accordance with the DUHS Professional Practice model.
- Participate in the clinical ladder program, educational activities, departmental committees, research projects, or other health-related projects as assigned.
- Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
- Adhere to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
- Actively participate in outstanding customer service and accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
- Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse OR current compact RN licensure to practice in the state of North Carolina required.
- BLS certification required.
- ACLS certification preferred (required within 3 months of employment).
- All Registered Nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date.
The Emergency Department Clinical Evaluation Unit (CEU) is a 16-bed acute care unit that provides care to patients across multiple service lines and levels of care, excluding pediatrics and ICU. The care team, consisting of RNs and ED Techs, will care for a population of emergency department observation patients, with a stay of 24 hours-or-less, by following a variety of standard protocols in collaboration with an ED provider.
