Job Summary

At Dominion Energy, we are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to support our growing number of renewables and grid interconnections. The primary responsibilities for this role include creating interconnection protection requirements and developing protective relay settings for our distribution and transmission systems related to generator interconnections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Learn and apply basic protection philosophy and applications to real-world scenarios.
  • Produce detailed memos outlining the protection requirements for generator interconnections.
  • Develop protective relay settings for ET protection schemes inside the substation.
  • Provide technical assistance to various engineering and field teams to fully develop the protection and control design package.
  • Support conceptual engineering teams, project management teams, and ET Field Organization throughout capital projects.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

We are looking for individuals with strong time management skills, the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments, and excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical writing. The ideal candidate will be equally effective working independently or in a team environment, with the ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.

Education Requirements

We are considering upcoming graduates up to December 31st, 2024. To be eligible for the Engineer job series, candidates must possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited Engineering program, or a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math, or Engineering Technology, and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited.

Licenses, Certifications, or Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Baccalaureate degree in Engineering or a related science (Physics, Chemistry, Math, Engineering Technology acceptable if all other pieces of the third prong of the Required Engineering Criteria listed in KSA section are met).
