Pediatric Polysomnography Technologist

Job Summary:

Massachusetts General Hospital(MGH) is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Polysomnography Technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing standard and complex all-night sleep recordings, as well as multiple sleep latency tests, under the direction of the Lab Manager and with general supervision from the Senior Tech Specialist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform polysomnograms to measure oxygen saturation, EKG, EEG, respirations, ETC02 levels, upper airway resistance, CPAP, and BI-PAP levels.
  • Monitor additional physiologic phenomena by means of appropriate technique.
  • Communicate with the ordering physician or unit director to clarify unclear or inappropriate orders and communicate information regarding the patient's status.
  • Set up and calibrate monitoring equipment, apply electrodes, and administer supplemental O2 under physician's orders.
  • Interpret severely abnormal data/EKG rhythms and report such findings to the sleep physicians.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to the patient's medical problems and physiological events, especially cardiac arrhythmias, respiratory events, and seizures.

Qualifications:

  • RPSGT certification preferred.
  • BRPT registration required within one year of hire.
  • BCLS for Healthcare Provider certification required.
  • High School Diploma required; graduation from a certified hospital sleep, EEG, or respiratory therapy program preferred.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate must be able to work flexible hours, including some weekend shifts, with primary emphasis on night shift.
