UPMC Procirca is seeking a dedicated Advanced Neurodiagnostic Technician to enhance our team.

In this role, you will perform both standard and intricate procedures in the field of Neurodiagnostics, with a primary focus on Electroencephalography (EEG), Evoked Potentials (EP), Epilepsy Monitoring, Polysomnography (PSG), and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS). Your responsibilities will also include engaging in diagnostic and research activities, providing essential departmental support, and aiding in the training of new personnel.

This position includes a variety of shifts, with on-call rotations across multiple UPMC facilities, ensuring comprehensive 24/7 coverage as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather and document pertinent medical histories from patients or their relatives.
  • Execute procedures while ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors and medical staff to resolve issues and provide guidance on laboratory practices and equipment.
  • Identify EEG waveforms and patterns, communicating findings to medical professionals. Recognize changes in patient conditions and correlate them with EEG results.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot neurodiagnostic equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Respond to medical emergencies to safeguard patient well-being, adhering to hospital protocols for high-acuity care.
  • Utilize computer systems to record neuronal and sensory function measurements.
  • Manage the scheduling of neurodiagnostic procedures, explaining processes to patients and preparing them for examinations.
  • Conduct specialized EEG recordings and review ambulatory EEG studies for physician assessment.
  • Possess a minimum of a high school diploma with 3 years of EEG experience, or an associate's degree with 2 years of EEG experience, or be enrolled in or a graduate of a CAAHEP accredited END program with 2 years of EEG experience.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CPR certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • Certification from the American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists, Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist (CNCT), or Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R.NCS.T.) is necessary.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is required.
