We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at UofL Health. As a Medical Laboratory Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting validation studies and patient testing by Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and other molecular techniques.
Key Responsibilities- Follow established laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, and test analysis.
- Perform NGS and other routine molecular tests, procedures, and analysis according to standard operating procedures.
- Work independently and manage multiple testing protocols.
- Perform maintenance, calibration, and operational checks on analytical equipment.
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
- Adhere to quality control policies and document all quality control activities.
- Maintain records of proficiency testing samples and patient specimens.
- Follow accrediting agency standards and safety guidelines.
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear personal protective equipment.
- Participate in safety training sessions and identify and report safety hazards.
- Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related science.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by a recognized accrediting agency.
- Minimum one year of lab experience as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist.
