Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at UofL Health. As a Medical Laboratory Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting validation studies and patient testing by Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and other molecular techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow established laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, and test analysis.
  • Perform NGS and other routine molecular tests, procedures, and analysis according to standard operating procedures.
  • Work independently and manage multiple testing protocols.
  • Perform maintenance, calibration, and operational checks on analytical equipment.
  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
  • Adhere to quality control policies and document all quality control activities.
  • Maintain records of proficiency testing samples and patient specimens.
  • Follow accrediting agency standards and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear personal protective equipment.
  • Participate in safety training sessions and identify and report safety hazards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related science.
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by a recognized accrediting agency.
  • Minimum one year of lab experience as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist.
