Key Responsibilities

Position Summary

The role involves attending and successfully completing the Police Academy to qualify for commissioning as a peace officer within The University of Texas System.

Primary Duties
  1. Engage in classes and maintain detailed records of the curriculum.
  2. Conduct research and submit written assignments.
  3. Participate in physical training, firearms training, and defensive tactics.
  4. Contribute to classroom discussions and collaborative projects.
  5. Adhere to the established rules and regulations of the Police Academy.
  6. Follow directives from the Academy staff and the Director of Police.
  7. Comply with institutional policies regarding attendance and conduct.
  8. Report any unsafe conditions or incidents promptly.
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 21 years old by commissioning date.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • No felony convictions or serious misdemeanors.
  • Must pass a written exam and physical agility test.
  • Undergo a thorough background investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Four years of honorable military service.
  • Experience in a law enforcement or security role.
Additional Information
  • UTSA maintains a tobacco-free campus.
  • This position is security-sensitive and contingent upon a successful background check.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. is required upon hire.
Working Conditions

Environment:
  • Classroom and outdoor training settings.
