Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of law enforcement professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure the effective delivery of police services.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve police operations, including crowd control, surveillance, and security at special events.
  • Collaborate with the Lieutenant and Police Chief to ensure the department's goals and objectives are met.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for officers, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties effectively.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to officers, identifying areas for improvement and recognizing outstanding performance.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring compliance with department policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community members, stakeholders, and other law enforcement agencies to promote cooperation and collaboration.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant college coursework or degree preferred.
  • At least three years of law enforcement experience, with a strong background in supervisory and leadership roles.
  • Certification by the Kansas Law Commission on Peace Officer's Standards and Training (KSCPOST) required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Tuition assistance, with eligibility for up to 6 credit hours per semester.

Salary: Hourly rate $21.44
