Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technician to join our team at Northern Biomedical Research Inc. This role will provide technical support in surgical services, including animal preparation, note taking, anesthesia monitoring, and study setup.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical oversight on assigned surgical studies
  • Work on having point technician duties, including study book preparation and data review for GLP compliance
  • Prepare and maintain surgical suites, equipment, and tools
  • Operate and maintain surgical equipment, including anesthesia machines
  • Monitor and assess anesthesia depth, patient vital signs, and study progress

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED with at least 2 years of experience or an Undergraduate Degree in animal or life sciences with 1 year of experience
  • Preferred certifications: SRA and/or LAT
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office core applications and LIMS data collection
  • Ability to learn and use additional applications
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Work Environment:

This role will spend approximately 20% of time in an office setting and 80% of time in the laboratory. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and will be able to handle exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals.

Physical Demands:

This role requires the ability to lift up to 50lbs, carry up to 40lbs for up to 50 feet, push/pull up to 75lbs force, and stand/walk for most of the day. The ideal candidate will also be able to don and wear personal protective gear, including N95 masks and respirators.
