Job Summary:

The Sr. Production Lead is responsible for overseeing production operations, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. This role involves driving metrics on safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and continuous improvements. The Sr. Lead will maintain accountability of all operators and achieve production schedules in support of customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign jobs to qualified operators and maintain commitments in CTB
  • Review dispatch throughout the workday and assign jobs based on priority
  • Schedule overtime based on capacity demands
  • Review and record scrap rates daily, with RCCA for each event

Safety and Quality:

  • Drive safety awareness and improvements
  • Ensure all work is performed using proper PPE
  • Conduct scheduled stretch exercises
  • Report any possible hazards

Operator Efficiency:

  • Review methods and procedures to recommend improvements for lean initiatives
  • Monitor time taken on jobs assigned to operators
  • Guide operators to complete jobs within allotted labor standards

Labor Utilization:

  • Ensure all allocated labor hours are properly utilized for maximum efficiency
  • Ensure jobs are running as scheduled in the work cell
  • Identify bottlenecks and constraints within the cell
  • Schedule resources based on capacity demands

Operator Training:

  • Facilitate operator training with the Manufacturing Engineer, Design Engineer, and/or Manager
  • Train and develop associates in skills, processes, and procedures
  • Maintain authorized trainer list and cross-training matrix
  • Submit information on completed training actions

Procedural Compliance:

  • Ensure operators follow documented work instructions and procedures
  • Maintain process standardization
  • Ensure each area is responsible for their calibration

Daily Build Plan Review:

  • Participate in review of daily build plan with lead employees
  • Coordinate handoff of high-priority jobs for timely completion
  • Report and record issues related to production, quality, and on-time delivery

Shop Floor Management:

  • Continuously improve processes and procedures
  • Check manpower status and make labor adjustments
  • Ensure Tier 1 start of shift meeting with the team is held daily

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Define and monitor standard work, routings, and standard operating procedures
  • Reinforce and correct performance as needed
  • Conduct end-of-shift handover
  • Assist in set-ups and changeovers when necessary
