Job Title: Durable Medical Equipment Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Specialist to join our team at Focus: Meds Pharmacy and Wellness.

Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year based on experience.

Job Summary

In this dynamic role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the seamless coordination of DME for our patients. As a DME Specialist, you will be responsible for arranging medically necessary equipment, communicating effectively with patients and healthcare professionals, and maintaining accurate inventory records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate DME arrangements, resolving any issues that arise in collaboration with patients and healthcare providers.
  • Develop strong relationships with patients, physicians, site coordinators, and practice managers to ensure effective communication and service delivery.
  • Administer DME products under the direct supervision of pharmacists, adhering to relevant laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of DME inventory and supplies.
  • Communicate promptly with administrators or site coordinators regarding any concerns or issues.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Support administrators or site coordinators as needed in their daily tasks.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development through clinical in-service activities and committee meetings.
  • Make yourself available to colleagues when not engaged in your primary duties.
  • Perform monthly DME duties in accordance with the DME manual.
  • Deliver in-services and orientations as directed by administrators.
  • Ensure excellent client satisfaction by providing prompt, courteous assistance to patients, coworkers, and medical staff.
  • Collaborate with administrators or site coordinators on quality assurance, utilization review, program evaluation, infection control, and safety committee activities.
  • Oversee other DME employees.
Qualifications and Requirements

To excel in this position, you should possess:

  • A degree in a related field such as ATC, PT, PTA, OT, or OTA; ability to fit durable medical products like braces and slings.
  • At least 1 year of DME experience.
  • An Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent training and experience.
  • Knowledge of reimbursement guidelines, medical terminology, and DME billing codes preferred.
  • Proficiency in using computers and software applications.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and flexibility to manage multiple tasks.
  • Compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
