About the Role

A leading provider of long-term care services, CommuniCare Family of Companies, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Director to lead the dietary department of one of our facilities in the New Albany, IN area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Department Leadership: Direct the team functions of the culinary activities in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Staff Management: Ensure sufficient culinary staffing levels are met to deliver quality resident care, supervise new employee orientation and training, and develop and communicate shift assignments for culinary staff.
  • Menu Planning and Execution: Implement menus and recipes, maintain standards of culinary methodology and practices, and ensure quality food services through hands-on management.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with ancillary departments and culinary staff on resident conditions, needs, and concerns, and ensure that the culinary staff follows established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Resource Management: Manage resources available in the role of culinary director, ensuring that needed resources are available and quality care is delivered to all residents.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous cook experience in a healthcare environment, 2-4 years management experience preferred, and certification as a Dietary Manager or ServSafe certification.
  • Skills: Prior experience utilizing computers, preferably for Nutritional Care software applications, and ability to develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of operational aspects of the culinary department.
