About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant County Attorney to join our team in Montrose County. As a key member of our Human Services department, you will provide critical legal support and guidance to our county officials and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research and analysis of complex legal issues, providing expert advice and guidance to county officials and staff.
  • Legal Representation: Serve as the primary legal representative for the county in various matters, including litigation, appeals, and administrative proceedings.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of county policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with county officials, staff, and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration on legal matters.
Requirements
  • Education: A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and licensure to practice law in the State of Colorado.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of legal practice experience, preferably with public entity experience, with expertise in land use, employment contracts, social services, and aviation law.
  • Skills: Strong litigation, negotiation, and facilitation skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
