Your Role:


The selected individual will deliver emergency management planning, response, and recovery services to local and state governments, private enterprises, educational institutions, and other organizations within a designated area.


  • Effectively managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Responsibilities include designing, developing, and providing emergency management consulting services.
  • Conduct strategic planning, meeting facilitation, risk assessments, emergency operations planning, gap analysis, and continuity of operations (COOP).
  • Engage in business continuity planning (BCP), policy and regulatory analysis, evacuation planning, recovery planning, multi-jurisdictional coordination, communication planning, after-action evaluations, and training and exercise programs.
  • Execute activities in accordance with internal protocols, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain a high level of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Ensure safety at all times and report health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Travel as necessary.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in emergency management or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in emergency management. Experience at the city, county, or state level is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the FEMA six-step planning process, emergency management exercise programs, and foundational principles.
  • Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses (through FEMA's Emergency Management Institute or equivalent) and recognized training in emergency management, public health, continuity, and/or strategic planning.
  • Completion of the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) training.
  • Knowledge of FEMA Homeland Security grant programs is advantageous.
  • Understanding of basic project management concepts, including client management and adherence to project scope and timelines under the guidance of the project manager.
  • Able to work independently and effectively coordinate projects at the operational level on behalf of the project manager.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, even amidst changing workloads or competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated capability to work autonomously and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • Certification as an Emergency Manager (CEM) or Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) from IAEM is a plus.
  • Certification as a Continuity Planner from DRII or FEMA is a plus.
  • Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) certification is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Experience in achieving consensus among diverse stakeholders with varying objectives and perspectives.
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
