Assistant Plant Manager Job Description

Linde Gas & Equipment Inc is seeking an experienced Assistant Plant Manager to oversee daily operations and assist plant management in various areas, including customer service, production, manufacturing, quality, safety, compliance, training, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and direction for day-to-day operations over a team of entry-level production employees to meet demand of both external and internal customers.
  • Ensure that production is coordinated to meet daily distribution requirements, including local delivery routes and daily shuttle needs.
  • Support day-to-day distribution requirements and lead reliability, compliance, quality, and safety programs for assigned areas.
  • Serve as the site's Primary Quality Assurance Representative, maintaining and reviewing all compliance documentation as required.
  • Ensure team members are fully trained in, committed to, and conduct their activities in accordance with all aspects of Linde Safety and Quality systems and requirements.
  • Coordinate all quality and safety training for market area employees and maintain required records.
  • Monitor production/manpower levels within the area of responsibility to ensure continued efficiency while anticipating problems and assisting plant management with developing contingencies.
  • Identify issues and lead improvement plans in production processes, shift schedules, overtime levels, training, etc.
  • Manage and escalate equipment and product quality issues.
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of production supplies.
  • Support 5S and Lean Projects and continuously identify ways to reduce plant operating costs through the incorporation of Operational Excellence strategies.
  • Handle routine personnel issues, including training, coaching, and counseling subordinates.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in an industrial plant environment required.
  • 2+ years of managing and developing employees required.
  • Experience working and/or managing in a union environment preferred.
