POSITION OVERVIEW

The Mill Repair Technician is tasked with the upkeep and restoration of mining and milling machinery, including conveyors, hydraulic systems, pumps, and more.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


• Conduct fundamental pump repairs for both horizontal and vertical pumps.


• Execute basic crusher maintenance, including rebuilding, lubrication, and hydraulic repairs.


• Perform basic cutting and welding tasks using 14 in ARC.


• Carry out essential cyclone repairs.


• Demonstrate basic mill lining skills, including lifting (up to 50 lbs), squatting, crawling, and navigating uneven surfaces.


• Ensure proper installation of bearings.


• Engage in basic pipe fitting and threading across various pipe types.


• Utilize rigging techniques for pulling straps and cables (up to 15 lbs).


• Adjust conveyor belts as necessary (up to 50 lbs).


• Operate come-along hoists effectively.


• Utilize power tools correctly.


• Employ torque wrenches, hydraulic jacks, and hand tools proficiently.


• Conduct diagnostics as required.


• Perform inspections and repairs on flotation systems.


• Maintain wet and dry dust collectors.


• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES


• Proficient in operating forklifts, manlifts, hydralifts, and related equipment.


• Previous mechanical repair and/or welding experience with heavy machinery is essential.


• Basic cutting and welding skills are required.


• Familiarity with pipe fitting and threading across various pipe types is necessary.


• Capability to walk distances, ascend stairs, and carry tools weighing up to 50 lbs.


• Ability to reach, lift, and hold overhead weights of approximately 50 lbs.


• Must be able to swing a 20 lb. hammer.


• Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and in cramped conditions.


• Must be able to endure high temperatures and humidity levels typical of mill environments.


• Basic proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English is required.


• Skillful use of precision tools is necessary.


• Ability to interpret schematics is essential.


• Knowledge of lubrication and oil systems is required.


• Experience with trunnion bearing replacements is a plus.


• Candidates must successfully complete the first-class or second-class repairman test and welding test to be considered.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
