Position Overview

As a Senior Wireless Communications Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing wireless connectivity and facilitating digital interactions within the University of California community. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the wireless network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining network equipment across various platforms.
  • Aligning networking activities with industry best practices and institutional policies.
  • Providing daily operational support and documentation for all wireless services.
  • Collaborating with a team of engineers to drive innovative solutions and ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Directing strategic planning to meet the evolving network service needs of diverse stakeholders.

This role will significantly influence the operational efficiency and culture of the University by ensuring that the IT infrastructure is secure, efficient, and effective in supporting the institution's academic mission. Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in network services or information technology.
  • Advanced knowledge of LAN/WAN protocols and wireless monitoring tools.
  • Experience in managing and documenting wireless networks, including RF design and WLAN fundamentals.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in network services or related fields.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to IT systems.
  • Experience with Aruba Wireless and ClearPass NAC.

Certifications

  • CompTIA Network+ or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
  • Aruba Certified ClearPass Professional (ACCP) or equivalent.
