Job Description

Amazon is seeking a highly skilled Senior Wireless Communications Engineer to join our team in developing cutting-edge communication systems for our Project Kuiper satellite constellation.

About the Role:

We are looking for a talented engineer with expertise in wireless communication systems, digital signal processing, and software-defined radios. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating advanced communication systems, including Ka band and S/C band communication payload and customer terminal systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop advanced communication systems, including FPGA-based modem solutions and novel customized test solutions.
  • Work closely with systems and algorithm teams to evaluate and simulate system-level performance and provide feedback on potential improvements.
  • Architect and document time/frequency/space acquisition and tracking algorithms, including Doppler pre and post compensation techniques.
  • Contribute to development-test bring-up procedures using Linux, Python, and bash scripting.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in wireless communications at the system or implementation level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in broadband wireless or wireline communication systems.
  • Deep understanding of multiple access systems, such as OFDMA, TDMA, and CDMA.
  • Experience with software-defined radios, embedded programming, and test automation setup.

Compensation:

The base pay for this position ranges from $129,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors, including market location, and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
