Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist 3 to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will provide safe and effective respiratory care to patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced respiratory care to patients in accordance with clinical practice guidelines and hospital standards.
  • Consult with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Perform cardiopulmonary assessments and monitoring, including during emergency response.
  • Select and operate ventilators and non-ordered ventilator parameters.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and well-stocked manner.
  • May include external critical care transports and ECMO management.
  • Perform shift team leader role in the supervisor's absence.
Requirements
  • Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Current certification or registry from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • Current CPR certification as required by practice setting.
  • Two (2) years of work experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Preferred: Three (3) years of work experience as a Respiratory Therapist and previous affiliation or work experience in a similar practice setting.
Working Conditions

This role requires prolonged standing, frequent bending, and walking. The ability to lift 20-50 pounds is also required. The work environment is fast-paced and requires strong recall, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
