Division Overview

Crown's Beverage Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for soft drinks, craft beers, coffees, and teas, as well as new energy drinks. We lead the packaging industry with innovative technologies that redefine how the world looks at beverage cans. Our aluminum cans offer a large printable surface area and a wide range of sizes, shapes, and decorating options, making them the perfect packaging format to create compelling brand presence.

Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager works closely with all aspects of the manufacturing process, from raw materials to finished products, and supports daily production activities. This managerial position involves the daily supervision of Quality Assurance Inspectors on the production floor.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Accomplish quality assurance human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • Work with external customers by having a strong customer service presence and delivery.
  • Achieve quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews.
  • Develop quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses and identifying critical control points and preventive measures.
  • Validate quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes.
  • Facilitate proactive issues/concerns to production personnel to ensure immediate corrective action.
  • Maintain and improve product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits.
  • Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Update job knowledge by studying trends and developments in quality management.
  • Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.
Qualifications

In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Quality, Project Management, Chemistry, Biology, or Food Service.
  • Five to seven years of experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment, preferably in a food production environment.
  • Minimum five years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment with proven Quality Management System oversight capability.
  • At least three years of proven supervisory experience.
  • Must have a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process, and product quality and reliability.
  • Excellent grasp and understanding of SPC (Statistical Process Control), Six-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing.
  • Strong background in HAACP, Food Safety, GMP, and SQF.
  • Proven track record of improved results in the areas of quality, safety, and successfully leading and shaping an organization.
  • Must have a hand-on work ethics.
  • Approximately 10% overnight travel.

  • Ability to be observant and analytical, strong focus and attention to detail, thoroughness, and dealing with complexity.
  • Good personal interactive skills are essential for the training, coaching, and leading plant hourly and management teams in the Quality Management realm.
  • Ability to interface with corporate engineering and customers, concerning quality and process capability.
  • Analytical skills must be highly developed with an ability to objectively evaluate data and perform statistical analysis.
  • Excellent technical writing skills required to provide reports.
  • Complete multiple projects with deadlines while performing regularly assigned duties.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills through an individual and/or collaborative approach.
  • Must be able to look at new solutions and 'think outside the box.'
  • Effective leadership skills such as conflict resolution, communication, decision-making, etc.
  • Demonstrated employee relations skills and the ability to motivate people.

Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb steep stairs to be on a high platform.
  • The associate may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions
  • Generally works in a plant environment but will be required to perform some job duties inside a typical office setting.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
  • The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
  • The noise level is frequently loud.
  • Availability to work off-hours and/or weekend/s to support the plant, as needed.
