We are looking for a Precision Measurement Specialist for our team at II-VI Incorporated, where we manufacture advanced components for the semiconductor sector. The Precision Measurement Specialist will be responsible for assessing the flatness of both in-process and final products within a controlled cleanroom setting. Key responsibilities include the setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and upkeep of precision measurement instruments, as well as working closely with engineers and scientists to enhance instrument functionality.

Core Responsibilities

Set up, calibrate, and operate precision measurement instruments Assist in the definition and documentation of operational tools and procedures Analyze relevant data to assess operations, processes, and products Review procedures and suggest modifications for improved efficiency and adaptability Confirm that finished products meet established specifications Collaborate with engineers and production staff to address and resolve issues Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace Ensure timely and accurate completion of necessary documentation Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

High School diploma or equivalent required Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality inspection or metrology Prior experience with complex scientific instruments such as interferometers or microscopes is preferred Technical training is advantageous Familiarity with precision measuring equipment and cleanroom operations is highly desirable Experience with lapping equipment is a plus Proficient in precision measurement techniques and systems Ability to interpret engineering drawings and process documentation Proven ability to adhere to instructions and procedures while contributing suggestions for continuous improvement Experience with networked PC-based systems (spreadsheets, email, MRP systems)

Skills

Basic reading and mathematical skills Strong manual dexterity and fine motor skills for handling small components Organized and clean, with the ability to work in a cleanroom environment Patient and detail-oriented Proficient in metrology, skilled in the use of hand and electronic gauging tools (inspection less than .0001 inches) and other electronic equipment Experience with manufacturing process improvement initiatives Relevant experience in high-precision research and development or manufacturing settings Hands-on individual with a strong interest in a diverse range of tasks Goal-oriented with a proven track record of timely task completion High mechanical and mathematical aptitude Familiarity with various measuring tools Experience with process enhancement initiatives
