Job Overview:

The Technical Specialist works to support the Lidar or Ortho Team on various tasking. This individual provides oversight to technicians and other analysts in support of the team leadership. The Technical Specialist has knowledge of all aspects of the Lidar/Ortho workflow and performs rigorous QA/QC and assists in training of analysts and technicians. This position will work individually and as part of a team to support Lidar data production; producing finalized data deliverables based on client requests.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide oversight to a team of technicians and analysts, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standard. Take ownership of work within the team for execution and QA/QC, ensuring that all deliverables meet the required quality and accuracy standards. Produce and understand Lidar/Ortho specifications and requirements, and create and understand the production of raster products. Visually inspect rasters and know how to fix and address issues found in QC. Produce final deliverables ready to be delivered to the client, and assist with detailed tracking and evaluation of projects, deadlines, workflow, and tasking.

Management Focus:

Aware of the status of all assigned projects within the team, and assist with the management of the team's workload and priorities. Effectively motivates associates across all levels, and provides direction to associates across all levels. Aids in hiring new team members, and assists with the development of the team's skills and knowledge.

Technical Focus:

Demonstrates good judgment in the selection of the methods and techniques in problem resolution and troubleshooting, and excellent technical writing skills and the ability to take complex information and convey it easily. Performs rigorous QA/QC and data finalization practices, and produces data reports and final deliverables. Takes initiative to improve processes and efficiencies, and has a strong creative aptitude and ability to contribute to the development of unique methods.

Requirements:

Minimum 3+ years of experience in a Lidar or Ortho production role, and 2+ years of experience in a leadership role. Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience. Advanced knowledge of TerraSolid (Lidar), Global Mapper, and ESRI Products, and proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat. Proficiency in remote sensing production workflows, and proficiency in creating batch files to run command line tools. Preferred qualifications include a Master's or higher, knowledge of Python, CADD, and Visual Basic, and proficiency with compression and file transfer software.
