Pharmacy Technician Job Description

At SpecialtyRx, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our pharmacy operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Work under the direction of a supervisor to maintain a high level of accuracy and efficiency in daily tasks.
  • Experience working with Controlled Drugs (Narcotics) is a plus, but not required.
  • Maintain floor stock, restock, and remove expired medications to ensure a safe and organized pharmacy environment.
  • Rotate stock of medication areas to ensure quality controls and prevent errors.
  • Prepack and prepare floor bulk prescribed medications for dispensing.
  • Package and ship medications to patients in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Responsible for maintaining pharmacy standards and adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the team to support the goals of the pharmacy and provide exceptional patient care.
  • Enter new orders for staff pharmacist review and ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate customer information to provide personalized care.
  • Generate labels for dispensing and ensure accurate medication identification.
  • Answer phones and respond to order inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Clarify orders as needed to ensure accuracy and prevent errors.
  • Triage incoming faxes and complete any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Licensed AL Pharmacy Technician required.
  • Previous pharmacy experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Previous data entry experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Must be reliable and able to execute multiple tasks assigned.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Ability to physically perform light lifting and stand for long periods.
  • Knowledge of brand name and generic medications is required.
  • Ability to work independently, accurately, and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of SIG-Codes is required.
  • Quick typing skills and computer literacy are essential.
  • Familiarity with Frameworks LTC system, PLUS, is a plus.
