About the Role:
We are looking for a seasoned journalist with expertise in managing teams, developing editorial strategies, and producing impactful content. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including community members, organizations, and fellow news outlets.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a vision for the newsroom's editorial direction
- Hire and manage a team of journalists dedicated to serving Waco's needs
- Establish partnerships with community organizations to source stories and promote the newsroom's work
- Regularly engage with Waco residents to gather feedback and ensure the newsroom's content meets their needs
- Maintain transparency and accountability within the newsroom
- Serve as an ambassador for the newsroom, representing our mission and values at public events and meetings
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior editorial role
- Proven track record of building and managing high-performing teams
- Expertise in developing and executing editorial strategies
- Strong understanding of community engagement principles and practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $85,000-$110,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits include medical, vision, and dental insurance, a cell phone stipend, paid time off, and remote working flexibility.
