HVAC Service Specialist

- Evaluates HVAC system functionality through thorough observation, testing, and setup as dictated by the specific trade and equipment type, including split systems up to 120 tons, mini-split systems, VRV heat pumps, rooftop units exceeding 150 tons, and water source heat pumps.
- Manages workflow on extensive projects, executing disassembly and reassembly of both large and small commercial or residential systems for troubleshooting and scheduled maintenance as per service agreements. Proficiently utilizes hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring instruments.
- Completes service agreements, project quotes, and urgent service requests as assigned. Fosters long-term client relationships and effectively communicates the work performed to ensure customer satisfaction. Keeps all project stakeholders informed about the status of ongoing projects.
- Acts as a primary resource for service technicians by providing technical support. Oversees subcontractor activities and offers training and guidance to fellow technicians.
- Facilitates multi-technician service calls.
- Participates in the on-call rotation as required by company policies and procedures.
- Procures materials and issues purchase orders to vendors.
- Operates a motor vehicle and trailer safely, adhering to company vehicle policies and all safety regulations.
- Maintains tools, equipment, and inventory on the service vehicle.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience in inspecting, testing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining HVAC systems.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must hold necessary registrations, professional licenses, and/or certifications as required for the position.
- HVAC Unitary Skills: Proficient with split systems (all brands up to 120 tons), mini-split systems (up to 3-ton heat pump), VRV heat pumps, rooftop units (all brands up to 150+ tons), and water source heat pumps (all brands up to 120 tons).
- HVAC Airside Skills: Knowledgeable in Fan Powered Boxes, VAV Boxes, and VFD Theory. Understanding of Air Handler operations and control valve functions. Familiar with various exhaust fan types.
- Pumps and Piping Systems Skills: Ability to identify components and configurations of pumps and chillers, including flow control mechanisms and piping systems.
- Familiarity with brand-specific control systems.
- In-depth knowledge of service processes, techniques, and applicable codes.
- Exhibits professionalism, strong interpersonal skills, and effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Consistently demonstrates high ethical standards in business practices.
- A two-year technical degree in a related field is preferred.
