Job Title: Youth and Government Coordinator

Join the University of New Mexico as a Youth and Government Coordinator, where you will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of civic leaders. This exciting opportunity is part of the New Mexico Youth and Government program, a collaborative effort between the YMCA of Central New Mexico and the University of New Mexico.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to support the development and implementation of our Youth and Government program. As a Youth and Government Coordinator, you will be responsible for assisting in conference planning, developing advertising content, writing program grant applications, and creating a digital archive of historical program content.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in conference planning and preparation activities, including student orientation, training, and the annual state conference.
  • Develop advertising content for social media outreach and create engaging materials to promote the program.
  • Write program grant applications to secure funding and support the program's growth.
  • Assist in outreach efforts, such as creating a professional clothing drive for student participants or program fundraising.
  • Develop a program digital archive to showcase the impact of the program over time.
  • Develop learning materials for students and delegation leaders, including resources on parliamentary procedure, debate preparation, and event planning.
Requirements:
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with grant writing
  • Experience with developing content for social media
  • Experience with outreach efforts, such as clothing drives or fundraisers
  • Experience with creating digital archives
  • Experience developing learning materials
  • Knowledge of New Mexico governmental processes
