Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will diagnose and repair diesel tractors, trailers, and other wheeled vehicles, ensuring they are in good working condition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Examine and diagnose vehicle problems, and repair according to generally accepted methods
- Discuss extensive or difficult repairs with Terminal Manager and/or Supervisor
- Demonstrate and enforce CEMEX safety policies and regulations to all mechanics
- Perform routine scheduled maintenance outlined on PM checklist sheets
- Plan all routine work procedures
- Raise vehicles to gain access to mechanical components for removal, repair, or inspection
- Remove components for repair or replacement, such as alternators, starters, water pumps, and more
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems and components
- Inspect and replace parts, such as clutches, wheel seals, brake linings, and drums
- Overhaul and rebuild serviceable components
- Some regional traveling required to repair company equipment
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems and circuitry in accordance with acceptable industry standards
- Perform occasional cutting and welding using gas and electric welding equipment
- Replace and adjust headlights, and install and repair accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wiper blades
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Possession of a valid Driver's License; prefer Class A or Class B CDL or the ability to obtain such a license within the new employee evaluation period
- Forklift certified or willing to obtain
- TWIC preferred or willing to obtain
Working Conditions:
The job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time. Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
