Job Summary

The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for developing, evaluating, and maintaining manufacturing processes for Surface-Mount Technology (SMT), Through-Hole Technology Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), and potentially Cables & Electro-Mechanical assembly production.

This role drives continuous improvement projects to enhance manufacturability, efficiency, workflow, and quality. Additional duties include evaluating manufacturability, recommending design changes to improve production, and addressing customer requirements.

The Manufacturing Process Engineer will assist in new product introduction, prototype production, and implement engineering changes from customers to optimize efficiency and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead new product introductions, from initial release through production and customer delivery.
  • Create manufacturing documentation to ensure process control, validation, repeatability, and customer approvals.
  • Perform cost analysis and risk assessment for equipment and process improvements.
  • Design and procure stencils for the production process.
  • Perform temperature profiling for reflow ovens, wave solder, and hot air rework systems.
  • Program, set up, and train operators on equipment such as Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), X-Ray machines, SMT placement systems, reflow ovens, and wave solder machines.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in SMT and/or Through-Hole CCA manufacturing.
  • In-depth knowledge of soldering, assembly processes, equipment, and materials.
  • Ability to identify key process variables and implement statistical process controls.
  • Knowledge of IPC and J-STD standards.
  • Ability to write process instructions, reports, and maintain documentation.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS degree in a related engineering discipline.
  • Understanding of ERP systems.
  • Experience in process development for cable assemblies and box builds.
  • Experience with Lean & Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing software: Aegis CircuitCam, Valor, ECD Mole Thermal Profiling, Autodesk AutoCad, and SCS Powerview.
