Position Title: Project Controls Specialist
This role is designed for a professional with expertise in Project Controls and Scheduling. The Project Controls Specialist will collaborate with a variety of clients, from small enterprises to large corporations, to develop and implement effective Project Controls and Scheduling strategies. In a collaborative team setting, the individual will analyze and enhance client processes related to project oversight and evaluate the efficiency of scheduling operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a vital resource for project teams, supporting the project controls and scheduling functions. Collaborate with project teams and clients to assess existing methodologies, propose enhancements, and oversee the implementation of recommendations.
- Establish and monitor project controls activities across multiple projects as necessary.
- Evaluate current status against established baselines and forecasts, contributing to variance analysis and explanations.
- Identify potential future impacts on cost and schedule, providing guidance to project teams.
- Analyze quantities and hours spent to determine earned value.
- Coordinate the preparation and review of project reports and scorecards, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain work breakdown structures for precise reporting.
- Review and analyze the progress and performance of contractors, both internal and external.
- Adapt project controls plans as needed for specific project scopes.
Qualifications:
To be considered for the Project Controls Specialist position, candidates should possess the following:
- A degree in a technical field with a minimum of two years of relevant experience, or an associate degree with equivalent education and experience.
- Proficiency in presentation, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
- Proven ability in analytical problem-solving.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Capability to perform effectively in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence without formal authority.
- Experience in handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Strong teamwork skills, working closely with clients to achieve results in demanding situations.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with client personnel.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the general qualifications, it is advantageous for candidates to have:
- Knowledge of Project Control functions and processes, including planning/scheduling, cost control, cost estimating, Earned Value Management, change management, and financial/project accounting standards.
- Planning and scheduling expertise related to construction management.
- Familiarity with Project Scheduling Applications (e.g., Primavera, MS Project), including their implementation and administration.
Additional desirable qualifications include:
- A degree in a technical field related to Project Management, such as Construction Management.
- Formal project management credentials (e.g., PMP).
- Experience with end-to-end project management, portfolio management, or enterprise project/application portfolio management solutions.
