This is a full-time position that will play a critical role in leading our nursing team and assisting with the development of our infection control and staff development programs.
Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse (RN) Infection Control Specialist/Staff Development:
- Develop, implement, and maintain an effective orientation program for new employees.
- Provide leadership training to Nurse Supervisors/Charge Nurses.
- Report all reportable diseases to the county and state health departments.
- Assist with in-services on wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care, and incontinence for the nursing staff.
- Maintain a liaison with residents, their families, and support departments to plan for residents' needs in relation to prevention and control of infections.
- Participate in planning, conducting, and scheduling in-service training classes for CNAs/GNAs and other nursing personnel.
- Assist in standardizing methods for work accomplishment.
- Assist in training department personnel in identifying tasks that involve potential exposure to blood or body fluids.
Requirements of the Registered Nurse (RN) Infection Control Specialist/Staff Development:
- Must possess, as a minimum, an Associate's Degree or BS preferred and completed nursing school.
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in this state.
- Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related healthcare facility.
- Must have experience in supervising, managerial, and principles of practice.
- Must possess a working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic technique to include standard/transmission-based precautions.
- APIC Certification in infection prevention and control preferred, but not necessary.
- Must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical/drug screen.
