Job Summary:

This position plays a crucial role in implementing the statewide forest health program. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating acres to increase health and reduce fire risk, conducting forest health assessments, collecting and managing ecological data, and contributing to the development of forest health resources. Additionally, this position will involve evaluating forest health and monitoring for damage, decline, or mortality caused by insects, diseases, and invasive species, tracking forest health projects, and documenting the effectiveness of treatments. The position will also require statewide travel and occasional extended overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct forest health assessments and collect and manage ecological data
  • Monitor forestry projects through site visits and coordination with sub-grantees
  • Provide technical assistance related to forestry techniques, forest health, insect and disease impacts, and invasive species
  • Provide customer service to peers, grantees, and constituents
  • Maintain vehicles, equipment, and work spaces
  • Drive on State business
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited school of Forestry or related natural resource program, or equivalent work experience
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and regulatory processes
  • A valid Arizona Driver's License
