About the Role

The University of California, Irvine is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Rapid Response Team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for coordinating Code Blue and Rapid Response Team assessments, prioritizing patient care, and responding to Code Stroke calls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Code Blue and Rapid Response Team assessments to ensure timely and effective patient care
  • Prioritize patient care based on clinical deterioration and implement advanced nursing interventions to optimize patient outcomes
  • Respond to Code Stroke calls and provide emergency care as needed
  • Act as a clinical resource for physicians and staff, evaluating patient scoring for potential deterioration and ensuring inclusion in surveillance rounding
  • Develop and implement practice guidelines, collect and analyze data, and educate staff on patient care during rapid response or near-miss events
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of recent clinical nursing experience in ICU or ED
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including experience leading projects, teams, or councils, or acting as a preceptor or clinical instructor
  • Current California RN license
  • CCRN or TCRN certification
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency with MS Word and MS Outlook
  • Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements
  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
