Job Summary

The University of California, Irvine is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse IV to serve as a Skin, Wound & Ostomy Consultant. This role will be responsible for providing expert clinical guidance and support to nursing staff in the delivery of high-quality wound care and prevention services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical expertise and guidance to nursing staff on wound care and prevention best practices.
  • Develop and implement wound care protocols and standards of care.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop individualized care plans for patients with wounds or at risk for pressure ulcer development.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and evidence-based practices in wound care and share knowledge with colleagues.
Requirements
  • Current RN licensure in the state of California.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in acute care nursing, with a focus on wound care and prevention.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements related to wound care.
  • Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialty nursing certification in wound care (CWOCN or CWON).
  • Leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs) and other healthcare technology.
