About the Role

The Staff Nurse Leader is a key member of our team, responsible for overseeing clinical functions related to patient care, quality of nursing practice, and standards of care for the assigned shift.

As a Staff Nurse Leader, you will coordinate patient care activities by directing staff and functions on the unit, while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit-specific expertise.

You will perform professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychomotor and age-appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene, and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.

Additionally, you will provide break relief coverage for the shift, troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise, and function as a role model and clinical resource to staff and patients.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient care activities by directing staff and functions on the unit
  • Maintain clinical nursing practice skills and unit-specific expertise
  • Perform professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychomotor and age-appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other
  • Provide break relief coverage for the shift
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise
  • Function as a role model and clinical resource to staff and patients
Requirements
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Basic Fetal Monitoring Course Completion
  • Baby Friendly Certification
  • Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring
  • Minimum of four years recent Perinatal nursing experience in Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby Unit
  • Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Demonstrated understanding of patient classification system and staffing requirements for the patient population
  • ANCC or NCC recognized RN certification uniquely applicable to this specific unit
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science, Nursing
  • Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements
  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
