About the Role:

The Medical Laboratory Scientist conducts analysis of body fluids, including blood, urine, and spinal fluid, to determine the presence of normal or abnormal components. This role requires a strong understanding of chemical, physical, and biological sciences, as well as the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct analysis of body fluids to determine the presence of normal or abnormal components
  • Develop and implement quality control policies and procedures to ensure accurate test results
  • Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure smooth operation of the laboratory
  • Participate in the Laboratory Quality Assurance Plan, including method evaluation, teaching/training, and new procedure implementation
  • Document all testing performance measures and ensure test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken
Requirements:
  • Doctoral, master's, or bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science, or a bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
  • ASCP certification or equivalent for an MLS
  • Ability to manage time, tasks, and resources effectively
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Basic computer skills
