Salary

$15.00 per hour for a part-time position of 20 hours per week.

Job Description

Position Summary: We are seeking an Environmental Education Specialist to assist with various aspects of our education program at the Center for Birds of Prey in Maitland, FL. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of our Senior Coordinator of Education and be responsible for leading programming focused on conservation, saving energy, and protecting habitat for birds.

  • Assist with teaching environmental education programs to school groups both on and offsite.
  • Lead counselor for spring break and summer camp programs.
  • Help plan, set up, and implement special events or fundraisers.
  • Assist with creating, implementing, and surveying educational programming.
  • Market programs to schools and other target audiences.
  • Aid in making the Center more accessible and inclusive.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Completion of at least two years of college coursework in environmental or life sciences, or science education.
  • Teaching experience with children and adults.
  • Writing experience preferred.
  • Ability to lead a group and initiate activities, work independently, and team teach.
  • Comfortable with public speaking to small or large groups.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation, flexibility, and ability to work well with others.
  • Current driver's license or state-issued ID and reliable transportation.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to conservation.
