The Campus Life Office is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Executive Director of Campus Life. This key role will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive co-curricular experience for students, fostering a vibrant and inclusive community that promotes student learning, engagement, and success.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Campus Life team, ensuring alignment with university goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement policies, programs, and services that support student organizations, fraternity and sorority life, and campus-wide programming.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with student government, student leaders, faculty, and staff to promote collaboration and mutual understanding.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of professional staff, graduate assistants, and student employees to ensure a high-performing team.
- Champion the co-curricular experience through establishing and maintaining policies, support services, and programs for registered student clubs and organizations.
- Provide strategic guidance and support to student leaders in their governance and advocacy efforts, fostering a collaborative relationship with the Associated Student Government.
- Liaise with other campus departments to coordinate large-scale campus-wide programs and events, ensuring a cohesive and inclusive experience for students.
- Ensure compliance with assigned fiscal operations and performance contracts, reviewing and negotiating contracts as needed.
- Represent Campus Life on the Student Affairs Leadership Team and engage with various stakeholder groups to enhance and coordinate student life.
- Eight to ten years of experience in student activities, leadership development, fraternity/sorority life, college union, or related area with senior management or progressive levels of responsibilities.
- Master's degree required, with a preferred area of specialization in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, or related fields.
- Significant experience as an innovative leader managing personnel, budgeting and finance, assessing programs and services, and creating environments that enhance students' academic and personal learning and success through co-curricular involvement.
- Possess knowledge and experience in developing policies related to student organizations, ensuring alignment with university standards and enhancing the effectiveness of these groups.
- Demonstrated experience in program development, including learning/program outcomes and contract negotiations with outside vendors, speakers, and programming groups.
- Experience with student organization advising, training, travel, and financial management.
- Experience supervising senior professional staff and working with national or local Greek letter organizations.
- PhD, EdD, or other terminal degree in higher education, business, student affairs administration, or related field.
- Certifications in leadership and/or harm reduction initiatives.
- Understanding of educational environments at highly selective institutions like Northwestern.
