Volt is seeking a skilled Manual Grinder to join our team in a full-time capacity. As a Manual Grinder, you will be responsible for setting up and operating equipment for manual grinding operations, performing in-process inspections, and creating and executing grinding plans.
Key Responsibilities- Grinding Operations: Set up and operate equipment for manual grinding operations as assigned by the foreman, performing small and large OD/ID grinding on metal parts ranging from.500" to over 96" in diameter.
- Inspections and Quality Control: Use hand tools such as micrometers, calipers, scales, height gauges, and gauge blocks to perform in-process inspections, ensuring close tolerances of.0005" and achieving finishes of 16RMS or better.
- Grinding Plans and Documentation: Create and execute grinding plans with little or no assistance, completing necessary documentation for each job, including travelers and nonconformance reports.
- Work Environment and Safety: Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies, and wearing PPE at all times.
- Experience and Education: A minimum of 2 years of experience in manual grinding in a similar work environment, with a high school diploma or GED (preferred).
- Skills and Abilities: Product familiarity, ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane, reliability, punctuality, and ability to read, write, and speak English.
The pay rate for this position is $35.00 per hour, with the pay range offered to a successful candidate based on several factors, including education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
