Job Title: Maintenance Technician II - Journeyman Electrician

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician II - Journeyman Electrician is a skilled professional responsible for performing routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on buildings, electrical, mechanical equipment, and utility systems. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail to ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections and maintenance on electrical systems to ensure safety and functionality
  • Adhere to all applicable requirements, including safety standards and local codes
  • Discuss electrical system malfunctions with users to isolate problems or to verify that malfunctions have been corrected
  • Adjust system controls to settings recommended by the manufacturer to balance system performance
  • Install, repair, and service electrical systems, providing assistance during emergencies
  • Recommend, develop, and perform preventive and general maintenance procedures, such as cleaning, power-washing, and vacuuming equipment, oiling parts, and changing filters
  • Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation, and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation
  • Obtain required permits, equipment, tools, and materials for projects
  • Layout and connect electrical wiring between controls and equipment according to wiring diagrams, using electrician's hand tools
  • Record responses and reports all faults, deficiencies in Hotsos, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders
  • Install auxiliary components to heating-cooling equipment, such as expansion and discharge valves, air ducts, pipes, blowers, dampers, flues, and stokers, following blueprints
  • Install electrical wiring and equipment; new electrical services, wiring during remodeling projects; replace and repair wiring as needed
  • May operate a computer that controls and monitors mechanical and electrical equipment and utility systems
  • Repair electrical equipment and control circuits; replace faulty electrical switches; repair refrigeration equipment
  • May repair electrical locks and control panels to maintain building security
  • Answer emergency calls quickly, assess the safety of the situation upon first arriving at the scene, and provide directions to individuals affected by the electrical emergency to ensure their continued safety and comfort
  • May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; order parts as needed
  • Assist with other work in coordination with repair and maintenance teams
  • Install, connect, and adjust thermostats, humidistats, and timers, using hand tools
  • Generate work orders that address deficiencies in need of correction
  • Assemble, position, and mount heating or cooling equipment, following blueprints
  • Study blueprints, design specifications, and manufacturer's recommendations to ascertain the configuration of electrical systems of property equipment, and to ensure the proper installation of components
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe or tubing, using pipefitter's tools
  • Use ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and lifts to work on electrical systems inside and outside the building
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install duct work and chassis parts, using portable metal-working tools and welding equipment
  • Cut and drill holes in floors, walls, and roof to install equipment, using power saws and drills
  • Wrap pipes in insulation, securing it in place with cement or wire bands
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe or tubing, using pipefitter's tools
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install duct work and chassis parts, using portable metal-working tools and welding equipment

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within six months from start date as a condition of continued employment
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
  • Must have and maintain a valid state-issued operator driver's license
  • Completed electrician apprenticeship
  • Minimum four years of experience in the construction industry
  • Proficiency with the National Electrical Code and local codes
  • Must have completed at least two (2) maintenance certificates, such as City/County certified Journeymen electrician required refrigeration license type II, controls, NFPA96, Level I Locksmith Certification
  • Must have good hearing and eyesight
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and understand English
  • Must have a valid and current State Driver's License and an insurable driving record for purposes of driving company vehicles as required
  • Willing to work odd and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required
  • Must have an Occupational License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) pursuant to the Illinois Gaming Act and remain in good standing with the Illinois Gaming Board as a requirement for this position
