Position: Lead Systems Engineer

Overview: The Lead Systems Engineer is responsible for evaluating contract specifications to devise solutions utilizing various sensor technologies and proprietary software systems. This role involves applying engineering methodologies to investigate, analyze, design, develop, implement, test, and assess solutions that meet client needs. The analysis encompasses evaluating energy requirements, available local power sources, and any necessary site preparations to facilitate installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive analyses to develop system architecture, including identifying applicable sensors and optimal installation locations.
  • Provide technical and engineering support services, working with diverse electronic and computing equipment, and overseeing or executing tasks such as:
    • On-site repair and maintenance of systems.
    • Planning and executing tests and evaluations of systems.
    • Installation of systems or their components.
    • Setting up, initiating operations, servicing, and training on field systems.
    • Creating work plans to ensure all equipment is operational prior to scheduled use.
    • Designing and developing specialized equipment or procedures for calibration and testing.
  • Utilize technical expertise to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance testing, and resource management.
  • Review and prepare engineering analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.

Technical Skills: The role requires proficiency in the installation of various systems, including but not limited to:

  • Automatic Identification System (AIS) receivers and antennas
  • Radar systems
  • Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) receivers and antennas
  • Security and surveillance cameras
  • VHF/HF communication systems
  • Microwave and satellite communication systems
  • Domain awareness systems, including workstations, servers, and monitors
  • Generator sets and renewable energy systems

Installation tasks may involve working at heights on towers and buildings, potentially requiring the use of heavy machinery for site preparation. Given the extensive knowledge of the systems and components, the Lead Systems Engineer may also take on training responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in technical roles related to the development of system architecture for sensor technologies. Experience in remote international locations is essential. Candidates should possess hardware and software expertise in multi-domain awareness systems, along with a strong technical background in computer system administration, network management, and the ability to install and troubleshoot various systems.
