About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Instrument Specialist to join our team at Advocate Health.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you will be responsible for organizing and implementing daily activities related to surgical instrumentation ordering, presentation, maintenance, and preparation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with OR managers, staff educators, and SPD coordinators to develop a training and development plan for surgical instrumentation.
  • Provide input to OR Team Leads and SPD coordinators regarding instrumentation issues and ensure all needs for surgical instrumentation are addressed.
  • Assess resource needs for surgical instrumentation and inform OR and SPD management.
  • Facilitate the delivery and return of items to proper locations throughout the day, including the return of contaminated case carts to SPD for processing.
  • Act as a liaison between the OR and Sterile Processing Departments, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in the operating room with experience and knowledge of surgical instruments.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and organizational skills, with intermediate PC skills and strong communication and presentation skills.
