Medical Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team at Mercy Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing clinical support to our patients and healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Rooms patients, collects assessment data, and prepares patients for examination and treatment.
- Assists in examination, treatment, and other clinic procedures.
- Assists with laboratory procedures, screening tests, and quality improvement projects.
- Answers telephone calls, responds to inquiries, and directs callers to appropriate personnel or initiates a triage slip for response by medical personnel.
- Schedules appointments and enters appointment dates and times into the computerized scheduler.
- Conducts reminder calls to patients.
- Greet and directs patients, salespeople, and visitors.
- Registers patients by verifying their records are up-to-date and accurate.
- Makes appropriate changes in the computer system and on patient charts.
- Coordinates referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices.
- Collects payment from patients and issues receipts.
- Prepares and maintains patient charts.
- Maintains and orders supplies.
- Quality: Follows policies and procedures, adapts to and manages changes in the environment, demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, looks for ways to improve and promote quality, applies feedback to improve performance, and manages time and prioritizes effectively to achieve organizational goals.
- Service: Responds promptly to requests for service and assistance, follows the Mercy Health Critical Moments of service, meets commitments, abides by MH confidentiality and security agreement, shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences, and effectively communicates information to partners.

- Cost: Conserves organization resources, understands fiscal responsibility, works within approved budget, develops and implements cost-saving measures, and contributes to profits and revenue.
- Graduate of a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
- Experience in a clinic setting is preferred.
- Current CMA certification through the AAMA, RMA certification through the AMT, CCMA certification through the NHA, or NCMA certification through the NCCT.
- Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days.
- Medication injection training and pharmacology competency to perform medication administration.
The special physical demands are considered essential job functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Manual dexterity is needed to operate equipment, perform procedures, operate the telephone and keyboard. Must be able to lift and transfer patients. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, handle, finger, and feel; reach; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell. This job requires the employee to exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and 25 to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Pushing and pulling equipment to provide care. Specific vision abilities required by this job include frequent close vision. Occasionally distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
