About the Job

Ochsner Health is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team on a PRN basis. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in helping patients achieve their goals and regain independence.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist to provide inpatient occupational therapy treatment programs based on physician orders. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Responsibilities
  • Perform evaluations and provide treatment programs to facilitate patient-specific goals
  • Assess patient response to treatment and recommend treatment plan changes as needed
  • Maintain patient records according to documentation standards, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure treatment protocols contribute to overall hospital quality and safety targets
  • Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, including respect for privacy and communication style
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy
  • Current occupational therapy license in the state of practice or eligibility for licensure by examination or reciprocity from another state
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
Work Environment

The Occupational Therapist will work in a patient care area, with potential exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue. The incumbent will also work in an area where patients enter, work directly with patients, and/or work with specimens that could contain diseases.
